Recently, “Hello Beijing” organized a series of cultural activities for foreigners in Beijing, inviting 65 children from 25 countries to deeply experience intangible cultural heritage skills at the Shenglu Manor in Beijing. Foreign families gathered together to learn Peking Opera, paint the Rabbit God, and taste traditional Beijing snacks, enjoying a joyful gathering.

The “Hello Beijing” series of cultural activities for foreigners in Beijing is organized by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism. In accordance with the requirements of the international talent service in the “Two Zones” construction, the activities aim to strengthen the promotion of foreign culture and enhance Beijing’s attractiveness to foreign residents, serving the high-quality Beijing escorts development and openness of the capital in the new era.

On that day, themed around “Little Rabbit Goodness – Intangible Cultural Heritage Family Day,” more than ten experiential activities were set up showcasing representative intangible cultural heritage projects in Beijing. Each child could follow a stamp collection booklet and experience the activities accordingly. In the field of opera experience, teachers and students from the Beijing Opera Vocational Art School brought children’s opera costumes and props, and children from different countries interacted and became “opera friends.” In the handcraft workshop area, projects such as painting the Rabbit God, making clay figurines, making kites, and sugar painting allowed children to experience the charm of folk art. In the Beijing-style kitchen area, children not only tasted traditional Beijing snacks like candied hawthorns and donkey rolls but also learned the craft of making paper noise boxes on-site. In the autumn tea party area, Zhang Yiyuan Tea Company set up a beautiful tea ceremony, where children of various ethnicities learned the basics of tea ceremony and served their parents with tea they brewed themselves, making the autumn weekend more enjoyable. There were also active children who experienced activities such as kicking shuttlecocks and playing diabolo.

The person in charge of the External Exchange and Cooperation Department of the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism stated that the “Hello Beijing” series of activities not only focuses on the on-site experience but also aims to contribute to the continuous formation of more innovative and dynamic international inbound cultural tourism routes and products. Future activities will be launched one after another, looking forward to providing more foreign friends in Beijing with unique cultural experiences of Beijing.
